dj: dust jacket. price-clipped: jacket corner cut. ex-lib: ex-library (stamps/pockets). foxing: brown spotting. sunned: faded from light. remainder: mark from discounting.
Practical checklist
- Edition & printing: First edition? Later printing? Number line, stated edition, and matching jacket info.
- Condition grading: Note writing/underlining, owner names, stamps, odors, toning/foxing, lean/cocking.
- Dust jacket: Present? Price-clipped? Tears/chips? We sleeve when practical; major flaws are described.
- Binding & pages: Tight & square? Split hinges, cracked gutters, loose or detached pages called out.
- Completeness: Plates, maps, foldouts, CDs/inserts. For sets/series, note matching printings and volume count.
- Bibliographic details: Publisher, place, year/ISBN, correct jacket art for the printing.
